Diagnostic Cytopathology 2012
Description
This advanced course is designed to provide updated pragmatic, problem-solving knowledge for practicing surgical and cytopathologists who also wish to remain current with the changing trends in cytodiagnosis and laboratory management. It addresses the resolution of diagnostic pitfalls relative to each of the major organ systems studied by cytopathology/FNA. Also included in 2012 is the lecture "Controversies in Egyptian Paleopathology". An optional lecture and practicum entitled "The Role of Pathologists in Ultrasound Fine Needle Aspiration: Theory and Practice" by Dr. Miguel A. Sanchez is available for a separate registration fee.

Diagnostic Cytopathology is pleased to announce a new addition to our program based on participant surveys and requests: "The Role of Pathologists in Ultrasound Fine Needle Aspiration: Theory and Practice". We are fortunate to have Dr. Miguel A. Sanchez, Chief and Director of the Leslie Simon Breast Care and Cytodiagnosis Center, Englewood Hospital and Medical Center Englewood NJ, as the director of this focused experience in USFNA! All participants in the Diagnostic Cytopathology Course will have the opportunity (for a small fee) to attend the 2 hour lecture that will introduce the concepts, applications and benefits of ultrasound FNA. An additional 2.5 hour practicum will be available for the first 35 individuals that register for the lecture and practicum together. Dr. Sanchez and his team will introduce the participants to the basics of US instrumentation and its utility in FNAs. This introductory exposure is designed to demystify USFNA, provide a greater awareness of USFNA in a clinical setting and encourage participants to explore how this might be beneficial in their own practice.
